Dr Steve Stankevicius – Section of History, Philosophy and Ethics of Psychiatry

Steve is a psychiatry registrar currently working at Toowong Private Hospital in Brisbane. He is a committee member of the RANZCP History, Philosophy and Ethics of Psychiatry Section. He has previously presented on a variety of topics at RANZCP Congresses, including free will, psychotherapy and epistemology within psychiatry, and most recently presented on the self illusion and its implications for psychiatry at the International Network for Philosophy and Psychiatry 2018 Conference in Hong Kong. Steve enjoys writing for the popular press, including The Australian, Sydney Morning Herald, Salon and The Daily Banter, and is a regular contributor for Psychology Today. He has a keen interest in meditation, regularly guiding classes for patients and is currently looking into how mindfulness might be combined with TMS for treatment-resistant depression.
