Time: 0930–1230
Presenter: George Halasz
Cost: Standard – $380.00 | Registrar – $185.00

The workshop targets clinicians with varied backgrounds, working in the public or private sector whose clinical roles involve direct contact, supervision or consultation with patients and/or staff who care for patients with overt or covert ‘simple’ or ‘complex’ trauma or PTSD history.

Key learning objectives include:

  1. Awareness of the need for SAFETY and attendant RISKS when treating complex trauma transmission between patient and their clinician – i.e. vicarious trauma;
  2. Recognising the difference between the overlapping conditions of ‘burnout’, ‘compassion fatigue’ and ‘vicarious trauma’; and
  3. Developing skill-sets to self-manage and regulate safety in the presence of relational trauma

The participants will be encouraged to share their own experiences of managing patients with complex trauma histories, with facilitators to offer practical clinical skills in ‘real-time’ discussion.
